This beautiful 8 inch by 8 inch Portrait Book just went home with it’s new owners. It’s a one of a kind design – each image is hand retouched, and each page is designed with storytelling photography. Then it’s off to Italy to be printed and bound with real photographic pages, and a hard photo wrapped cover. I created this book with a light mint cover with subtle floral accents to continue the theme of florals from this family’s newborn announcements. View the full design below.
Nundini is so generous with her smiles, and Patrick loves to make her laugh. They make the perfect match. In addition to beautiful maternity photos at my favourite Halifax beach, we staged a few funny moments just for fun… Patrick racing to get the pregnant lady a drink, Patrick photo bombing when it was SUPPOSED to be Nundini’s moment, and pointing at something off in the distance. We were busting a gut the whole session!
The final count down to baby can be a constant hurry to get everything done before things really change in your life. There’s all the “baby things” you need to buy, the work stuff you need to wind down, and possibly even a babymoon with your partner. I get it, you’re busy. It’s my job to make your maternity photography session easy-peasy so you have one less thing to worry about.
Included with all of our maternity photography sessions is the use of our curated collection of gorgeous maternity gowns and bodysuits. I look for flowing fabrics, chiffon, lace, tulle, and items with lots of stretch. Everything flatters a range of sizes and complexions.
Some of these haven’t made it to the Maternity Studio Closet gallery yet, or I’ve mixed and matched different pieces to make new sets. Here are a few of my favourites right now:
It was an early morning for Linoj and Anna, like getting up before the sun early. When we met at the Sir Sanford Flemming Dingle Park it was misty and damp. I was waiting with baited breath to see how the sun would greet us, if at all. It was one of those mornings where the sky just slowly gets lighter and grayer. We got very lucky with a 15 minute window of dark and dramatic clouds. It was like a beam of light came down from heaven and shone on these two for the first few minutes of their maternity photography session.
As a Halifax photographer, I’ve had the chance to visit some truly beautiful locations around our province. Following is a list of my top 5 favourite locations in the HRM. There are many more hidden gems, but I keep coming back to these, time and time again when my clients don’t have a special spot in mind for their photo session.
Incredible wide open spaces beside the sea. Stick to the water, or venture among the fishing boats. This place is bursting with Atlantic Canadian flair.
Point Pleasant Park
Great if you are located downtown. It has a small sandy beach, some open grassy areas, as well as some forrest trails. It also has some old military fort walls. It’s a great all around location with easy parking.
Cleveland Beach Provincial Park
Located between Queensland and Ingramport. What’s not to love? A sandy beach, a lake, and warm sunsets lighting up the water.
Oakfield Provincial Park
Near Fall River, it has a lakefront beach, lovely large open grassy fields with foot paths, and trails through the woods.
The Sir Sanford Fleming Dingle Park
A paved walkway along the water, lots of trees and shade, a stone tower, and lots of benches make this spot a wonderful option near the Armdale Rotary.
Runner up: The Frog Pond
Also super close to The Dingle is the Frog Pond. Let’s call it our runner up! It features a hiking trail around a lake, that is stunning in the fall.
These two are beyond thrilled to be welcoming a baby girl into their family soon, so we decided to capture this happy time before baby arrives. They are going to be such wonderful moms. Their little one will be so loved and cherished, and baby B will get two moms for the price of one. This maternity session was so magical.
