When A told me that he and his family wanted to wear traditional Indian clothing from home for their daughter’s newborn session, I was super excited. The silks and detailed embroidery are always to beautiful and full of colour. As much as it’s a treat for my eyes, it’s also meaningful and personal to them.
I always tell parents that brining something special to include in the session is welcome and encouraged as it makes their images as unique as they are. Sometimes it’s a handmade blanket from a grandmother, or a stuffie from when the parents were children, or sometimes it’s something from work like a doctor’s lab coat or RCMP Member’s Red Serge.
Your newborn session is a celebration of your baby AND where she comes from. Her story is part of you, just as yours is part of her. Your traditions will become her traditions.
