As a Halifax photographer, I’ve had the chance to visit some truly beautiful locations around our province. Following is a list of my top 5 favourite locations in the HRM. There are many more hidden gems, but I keep coming back to these, time and time again when my clients don’t have a special spot in mind for their photo session.
Peggy’s Cove
Incredible wide open spaces beside the sea. Stick to the water, or venture among the fishing boats. This place is bursting with Atlantic Canadian flair.

Point Pleasant Park
Great if you are located downtown. It has a small sandy beach, some open grassy areas, as well as some forest trails. It also has some old military fort walls. It’s a great all around location with easy parking.

Cleveland Beach Provincial Park
Located between Queensland and Ingramport. What’s not to love? A sandy beach, a lake, and warm sunsets lighting up the water.

Oakfield Provincial Park
Near Fall River, it has a lakefront beach, lovely large open grassy fields with foot paths, and trails through the woods.

The Sir Sanford Fleming Dingle Park
A paved walkway along the water, lots of trees and shade, a stone tower, and lots of benches make this spot a wonderful option near the Armdale Rotary.

Runner up: The Frog Pond
Also super close to The Dingle is the Frog Pond. Let’s call it our runner up! It features a hiking trail around a lake, that is stunning in the fall.
