There’s something truly magical about maternity sessions in February here in Atlantic Canada. The snow brings a quiet, peaceful beauty that’s impossible to recreate, and when the flakes are falling just right, it feels like stepping into a real-life snow globe.
That’s exactly what happened during this session.
We started where it’s cozy and comfortable—in my Halifax studio—where the light is always flattering and the temperature is just right. We created a collection of timeless, glowing portraits with soft fabric, delicate poses, and all the warmth and connection between these two soon-to-be parents.
Then came the adventure.
After a quick change into a stunning maternity gown and a warm faux fur coat, we stepped outside into a winter wonderland. The snow was falling in big, heavy flakes—thick enough to catch on lashes and swirl through the air like confetti. For this couple, who are originally from a much warmer climate, the experience was brand new. Their friends and family back home had never even seen snow before, so these portraits weren’t just beautiful—they were a little piece of Canadian magic to share with loved ones far away.
It’s days like this that remind me how special it is to live and photograph in a place where we truly get to experience the seasons. February might be chilly, but it’s full of opportunity for cozy moments and unforgettable memories.
