Some sessions feel like time travel.
Ten years ago, this couple said “I do.” A decade later, they stepped back into their wedding attire—not for a vow renewal, not for a big event—but simply to celebrate where life has taken them. They’ve built a life together, now with two kids and a home in beautiful British Columbia. But on this visit back to Nova Scotia, just the two of them, they wanted to return to the beginning. To pause, reflect, and honour the journey.

I’ve had the privilege of photographing them since she was pregnant with their first baby. Watching their family grow over the years has been one of the quiet joys of my work. So when they asked me to capture this anniversary session, I was completely honoured.
She slipped back into her wedding dress, carefully re-fastened that delicate veil—a family heirloom worn by someone dear—and met her husband once again, this time on the cliffs of Polly’s Cove.
And then the sky put on a show.

After a day of rain, the clouds pulled apart just in time to reveal golden light spilling across the horizon. A rainbow stretched briefly across the sky before the sun dipped lower and storm clouds rolled back in, adding just the right amount of drama. The cliffs were windswept, wild, and breathtaking—exactly the kind of setting that reflects ten years of love: beautiful, unpredictable, and deeply moving.
Their kids couldn’t join them on this trip, and she told me how much she missed them. But this was about holding space for them, too—for the couple they were, and the couple they’ve become. The photos from this evening don’t just document a dress or a view. They mark a moment of love that’s grown deeper, richer, and more resilient with time.
I’ll never forget the light that night. Or the way they looked at each other. Or the quiet power of returning to where it all began—with eyes wide open to everything that’s come since.
