It was especially wonderful to photograph the You Gotta Sing Chorus concert event recently since I am a past member. It brought back lots of great memories of laughter, joy, and song.
YGS is a community choir that is totally inclusive. You don’t have to audition, any age or gender can join, and you do not need to have previous experience singing. It is such a welcoming community of people. (Can you tell that I miss it?!!)
Here are a few of my favourite moments from the concert.
A quick group photo of close to 120 singers.
The warm up with choir director Vanessa Lindsay-Botten.
Everyone immersed in song.
Vanessa and youth choir singer.
Dancing and movement during the performance.
This was probably one of the most interesting parts… Some of the choir moved out to the side aisles of the church and enveloped the audience with music. The acoustics were amazing, and the whole space was filled with sound.
Another highlight was when choir singer Kevin accompanied the choir with his bag pipes to Chi Mi Na Morbheanna, a beautiful Gaelic song.
Special guest singers: Women Next Door choir.
